Your Identity In Christ | 20 Scriptural Confessions To Remind You
Do you ever have days where you bow your head in defeat?
Where you’re one hand away from waiving your white flag of surrender?
Days where you feel like you can’t see who you were truly created to be as an Heir of the King?
Me too.
No one really has it all together!
Keep reading, there is hope.
Hope that’s filled in the Word of God – with 20 scriptural confessions to find your identity in Christ.
Since the very beginning of time, Satan came as a serpent to tempt Adam and Eve by distorting the truth of God’s Word in the garden (Genesis 3). He started with a question to Eve, “Did God really say?” And boom.
Doubt entered the world and the hearts and minds of all mankind. A tactic the enemy still uses today, in men and women alike, and even in our children. Doubt seeps into our mind, with one mission: to attack our identity, value, and worth. When we allow that doubt to stay, the enemy’s main tactic is not only to question your identity in Christ but to get our eyes fixed on ourselves, instead of our Creator. To get our eyes away from the power and authority we have to overcome by the Word of God, and the promises He’s given us as His children.
Fast forward to when Jesus walked the earth, and we can see that the enemy used the same tactics when he tempted Jesus through the form of deception (Matthew 4). He is still using deception, lies, and distortion of the truth to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10)… and it is all done with one motive: to steal our true identity in Christ, and to rob us of our power as we bow down to defeat.
The enemy has and will continue to aim his attack at our identity for one simple reason. If he can rob us of the truth of who God is, and who we are as his children; if he can steal our identity in Christ, then he can steal everything that God has destined for us to become here on this earth.
But it doesn’t stop there.
We have a calling, and the good news is that God has given us everything we need to fight against these lies and attacks, and when we see God as our One Truth, we will always overcome!
But, we must do our part, which means using the weapons that He has given us to defend and fight against the lies that the enemy aims at us. We as women, men, mothers, and fathers, are not to just fester in the lies, but to use what Ephesians calls the Sword of the Spirit: The Word of God!
Below you will find confessions based on scriptures that you can meditate on, and use to fight when the lies of the enemy are after your identity in Christ, as a child of God.
It’s time to raise our swords, and fight back against the enemy of our soul using God’s powerful Word! Let us remind ourselves, and others in our circles, who we are in Christ, as He continues to reveal the plans and purposes He has for us as we renew our minds by the Word of God, and who we are in Him.
The truth is, there is an enemy that seeks to rob your very identity as a follower of Christ and steal your joy.
God is the artist who created us, and His Word is full of truths reminding us exactly who we are as His heirs. If someone you know is struggling with their purpose, identity, or self-image, we encourage you to share some of these confessions as a reminder of who they are in Christ!
