5 Biblical Promises To Pray Over Your Children

1. Promise of Protection

“I look up to the mountains and hills, longing for God’s help. But then I realize that our true help and protection come only from the Lord. He will guard and guide me, never letting me stumble or fall. God is my keeper; he will never forget me. He will never slumber nor sleep; he is the Guardian-God for his people, Israel. Jehovah himself will watch over you; he’s always at your side to shelter you safely in his presence. He’s protecting you from all danger both day and night. He will keep you from every form of evil or calamity as he continually watches over you. You will be guarded by God himself. You will be safe when you leave your home and safely you will return. He will protect you both now, and forever!” –Psalm 121 TPT

Lord Jesus, I pray that my children believe and trust that their help comes from the Lord. I pray that they do not seek shelter from others, but they would intimately know you as their Keeper. May they know that you will not let their feet be moved, or allow them to stumble or fall, but you will watch over them. I thank you, Lord, that you keep my children from all evil and I entrust their life to your hands. Lord, I pray your angels released over my children when they come, and when they go, and that when they do, they will always be guarded by You alone today and always. In Jesus Name, Amen.

2. Promise of Peace

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” –Philippians 4:6-7

Lord Jesus, I pray that my children will not be anxious about anything, but instead they will let their requests be known to you through prayer, supplication, and praise. Thank you, Lord, that you give them the peace that surpasses all understanding and knowledge that this world offers. I pray they would not only know, but they would experience your peace not just in times of trial, but in the days of triumph as well.  Thank you for guarding their hearts and minds as they abide in you. In Jesus Name, Amen.

3. Promise of Purpose

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” –Ephesians 2:10

Father, I pray that my children would pursue your purpose for them from a young age. That any distractions that arise to lead them off the divine path you have for them would be dismantled at the sound of my voice. I thank you that they know the voice of their shepherd, and the voice of a stranger they will not follow. Thank you for entrusting them to the purpose you have made them for. I pray that their daily choices would guide them into the purpose and calling you have on their life. In Jesus name, Amen.

4. Promise of Provision

“He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” –Romans 8:32

“I will bless her with abundant provisions; in her lack, I will satisfy with food.” –Psalm 132:15

Father, in the years of questioning their path, I pray that your provision would direct my child’s heart in the plans you have for them. I pray that you would guide, lead, and shape them to know you as their provider, and purpose to know you as their friend. I pray they would come to you in seasons of drought, and in seasons of plenty. And that in you, they will lack no good thing.  In Jesus Name, Amen.

5. Promise of Salvation

For you will appear among them as shining lights  in the universe, offering them the words of eternal life.”  –Philippians 2:15

“But if anyone drinks the living water I give them, they will never thirst again and will be forever satisfied! For when you drink the water I give you it becomes a gushing fountain of the Holy Spirit, springing up and flooding you with endless life!” John 4:14

Lord Jesus, I pray that my children will drink of the water that you give so that they will never be thirsty again and so that they will have eternal life. I pray that their hearts would not thirst after the things of this world, but they would have a heart hungry for you. I pray that their salvation would refresh the lives of those around them, and bring others into eternity with you. I pray that they would be lights to a dark generation that would lead others to your Son, shining onto them words of eternal life.  Through the power of the Holy Spirit, help my children believe in you and experience eternal life through you. In Jesus Name, Amen.
